Use case

Reels and Shorts
from a desktop recording.

Turn a landscape screen recording into a native 9:16 video for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, with the camera following your cursor and captions kept clear.

The problem

Cropping a desktop recording to 9:16 cuts off the part of the screen that matters.

How to do it with LaunchLoop

  1. Record in landscape as usual.
  2. Pick 9:16 in Make a demo; the film is laid out for the tall frame, not cropped, and the camera follows your clicks.
  3. Captions and titles are laid out for 9:16, above the area apps cover with buttons.
  4. Export 1080 × 1920 at up to 60 fps.

Compose for the smaller screen

Plan a recording with a clear focal task and review the vertical preview separately. Keep labels, captions and the product action away from the edges where a social app can place its controls.

A vertical output example. Actual LaunchLoop output; examples illustrate the workflow, not a guaranteed result for every recording.

Before you publish

A narrow canvas cannot show every detail of a wide desktop at once. Review each shot and adjust framing rather than assuming a center crop will work.

What you need

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, a short recording or supported source material, and enough disk space for the source and export. Test a short export on your own PC before a deadline. Free exports are 720p with a watermark; see licence availability and AI allowances.

Recording, transcription and rendering run locally. Optional AI writing sends your brief and extracted screen text, never the video or audio. Read the full privacy details.
